Betty Roy Crawford

1925 - 2008

Betty Roy Crawford was born in Iowa Park, Texas, March 17, 1925. She passed away at a Henderson hospital May 11, 2008. She was an active member of South Main Church of Christ in Henderson for more than 60 years.

She graduated from Henderson High school in 1942. She went on to attend Kilgore College, where she was one of the first classes of Kilgore Rangerettes under Gussie Nell Davis.

During World War II, she moved to Fort Worth, Texas, where she worked on projects on the B-24 Bomber, reading blueprints for General Dynamics.

After World War II, she married her high school sweetheart, Billy Crawford in 1946, and enjoyed more than 62 years of marriage.

In 1950, Betty and Billy bought A. Crim Funeral Home and Crawford Life Insurance Co., working side by side for 35 years until Crawford A. Crim Funeral Home was sold in 1985.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Laura Dean; and brother, Wesley Dean of Henderson.

She is survived by her husband, Billy Crawford of Henderson; two sons, Gary Crawford and his wife, Sharlotte, of Fort Worth and Scott Crawford and his wife, Debra, of Henderson; and sister-in-law, Gay Stephens and husband, Carlton, of Henderson. Betty is also survived by her four grandchildren, Victor Crawford and wife, Kristen, of Grapevine, Mitch Crawford and wife, Holly, of Fort Worth, Crystal Crawford Bird and husband, Mark, of Nacogdoches and Casie Crawford of Houston. She has one great-grandchild, Callie Crawford of Grapevine, with another on the way.
